Study and work in progress of two warships from the Spanish Armada

Artist: OAKSHETT, ANTHONY
Medium: OIL ON CANVAS/BOARD

It measures about 20" x 15" and is painted from the same canvas roll as the original Armada paintings. It is in the same broad style of the originals but the composition is new. Tony will be working on the canvas between now and the auction. I am very grateful to him for giving us such a fantastic piece of history. This work will be sold unframed.
Between 2007 and 2010 Tony led the team of artists commissioned to paint five 3.6m x 4.3m canvases depicting the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588. They hang in the Prince's Chamber in the House of Lords, replacing a series of tapestries that were lost when the previous Palace of Westminster was destroyed by fire in 1834.
He has kindly donated this study of two of the warships. Do email me if you would like to see the finished work when it is delivered to me. Thank you
